The John O. Dodson family began making pottery together in the 1970s in Fortson, GA, just north of Columbus. John O. Dodson and his wife Sybil opened the first Mud Dabbers shop in Brevard, NC in 1988. In 1997, their son Brad opened a new Mud Dabbers location just outside Waynesville, NC in the Balsam area, making this the second generation of Mud Dabbers potters.

​Each burl wood custom furniture piece is a custom design. Table bases are individually designed to accentuate the beauty of the burl wood slabs. Choose from Redwood burl wood, Walnut burl wood, burled and spalted Maple burl wood, Buckeye burl wood, Ambrosia Sycamore burl wood, Quarter-sawn White Oak burl wood or Red Oak burl wood, and many more American trees. Our burl woods are salvaged from previously downed or dying trees.
Please call ahead to schedule a guided tour. Tours are $2 a person plus tax. After your tour concludes you can continue the tour to our retail location, Sunburst Market, where you can purchase product. We do not service walk in customers at our new location.
